A common trap that most people fall into when creating their website is to focus on its appearance and content and forget about the importance of building a list.
Unless you make a concerted effort to capture the names and email addresses of visitors to your website, you have no idea who is stopping by your home page. Without a list, you have no way to build rapport with your prospects and turn them into customers.

Many times, the thought of walking into a room full of people we don’t know makes us cringe and our stomach ties up into knots. We know we ‘should’ network; however, we may definitely feel like we’d rather go to the dentist.
Does this describe you (or someone you know very well!)? The point of networking is actually a lot less daunting than you may think. The point of networking is to “get” something immediately from someone you just met. When new to networking, there are those that act on the thought that “If I’m going to meet someone, there has to be a result; like asking for a job, having them buy from me, telling people they know about me so that I can ask THEM for a job or sell to them!”

How important is your domain name?
If you want people to be able to find your website, it’s VERY important.
And the guidelines for a good domain name are pretty straightforward. It should be easy to spell, easy to say, and end with .com. And, of course, it should be relevant to what your website will offer.
So, the first thing to do when thinking about a domain name is to make a list of names you like. Your name or the name of your business are good starting places. This creative thinking process is similar to the one you use when you are deciding on a name for a business – in fact, it might be the same one! More . . .

Lavender Threads http://lavenderthreads.com
I am a self-professed computer geek - fascinated with computers since childhood, and creating websites for clients since the Internet was a toddler - in 1995.
I started Lavender Threads in 1998, focusing on creating websites that my clients could update themselves by building admin pages to make it easy for them to modify their pages.
In 2009 I began actively designing and modifying sites built on the WordPress platform, as it offers a very easy interface for clients to use - that I don't have to build each time.
For those who understand such things, I am proficient with HTML, PHP, CSS, MySQL, MSSQL, ColdFusion, and Javascript. If that doesn't mean anything to you, just skip ahead.
I also have a strong background in marketing, event management and internet technology; and am an artist and certified Life Coach.
I love working with clients who know exactly what they want, and with those who really don't know where to start.
I'm always happy to answer questions about the Web and websites!

Visibility
Visibility is seeing and being seen and is an essential component in Naked Marketing. Being highly visible both online and off means showing up just as you are…imperfect and merely mortal. You accomplish visibility by expressing the many facets and dimensions of who are and not merely giving a static description of what you do or how well you think you do it. The more angles you reveal, the more opportunities you’ll have to meaningfully connect with prospects and initiate your professional relationship.

The Naked Marketing Method http://www.nakedmm.com
I am a self-starting DREAMer and DOer and a foe of the status quo. I’m alternately an unyielding super woman and pleasure-seeking muse.
Frequently irreverent and prone to colorful language, I’m utterly passionate about being an agent of change and fulfilling my duty to cast light upon the world of shadows.
What I want most is to be known and to know others intimately and for both of us to believe there is something incredibly special, noble and fabulous about each other.
Nurturing others makes me come alive and reminds me how much I need to do the same for me. I am secretly thrilled by my lover’s hands as he plays music or brushes our baby’s golden hair.
I mysteriously attract lost animals and endless piles of unfolded laundry. I complain bitterly about food scraps at the bottom of the sink and about people who don’t do what they say they will.
I’m learning to stop resisting chaos and that how I think things “should be” is an endless, dark illusion I swallowed out of ignorance. I cry often and laugh even more; choosing creativity over certainty and grace over struggle.
I’m drawn to bright, shiny objects including people who reach for awakeness and aliveness… who embody the unequaled power of compassion in action.”

Business Cards are one of your best Low-Cost Tools for growing your business. Business Cards are great networking tools that are a personal, tangible way of sharing your name, company name, what you do and how to contact you. Cards are low-cost, low-tech and easy to use. They can be your mini-billboard with an average cost of less than a penny each.
Many business owners still have their first box of cards because they don’t want the expense of printing them again. Remember, business cards don’t work if you don’t give them out. Where else can you get out the information about your business in a form that is so easy to keep, so easy to use and reinforces your brand at such a minimal cost? More . . .
