Summertime is a season to kick back and enjoy the sunshine and the great outdoors. It’s a time for vacations, relaxing, and enjoying life.
It’s also the best time for a marketing do-over.
Over the summer months, why not refresh your marketing materials and be ready to launch a vigorous new push for business, in the fall?
Start with the basics:
- Is your company name and tag line still working for you?
- Does your logo need to be updated or replaced?
- Is your website fresh and exciting?
- Do your print marketing materials co-ordinate with your online brand?
- Can you develop a new product or offering during the summer, to launch after Labor Day?
You’ve got eight to ten weeks to refresh your look. Take the time to do this over the summer, and you’ll be poised to roll in the fall.
Along the way, enjoy your summer. It’s a great time to play. Have some fun as you unleash new energy into your business, while reveling in the warmth of sunny days and spending time with family and friends.

Talk about choices! When you’re looking for a place to host your website, you have more options than you have time to consider! (For the basics on what is a host, see What Exactly IS a Website.)
So, where to start, and how to decide? Do your research, and ask lots of questions – it’s an important decision.
Number One is RELIABILITY! If you consider a hosting company you’ve never heard of before, do a little research. Most reputable hosting companies will guarantee 99+% up-time. (This means that their servers – and your website – will be available when people look for it.) No one can guarantee 100% – because sometimes things just happen, especially with computers. So look for the “up-time guarantee.”

Lavender Threads
http://lavenderthreads.com
I am a self-professed computer geek - fascinated with computers since childhood, and creating websites for clients since the Internet was a toddler - in 1995.
I started Lavender Threads in 1998, focusing on creating websites that my clients could update themselves by building admin pages to make it easy for them to modify their pages.
In 2009 I began actively designing and modifying sites built on the WordPress platform, as it offers a very easy interface for clients to use - that I don't have to build each time.
For those who understand such things, I am proficient with HTML, PHP, CSS, MySQL, MSSQL, ColdFusion, and Javascript. If that doesn't mean anything to you, just skip ahead.
I also have a strong background in marketing, event management and internet technology; and am an artist and certified Life Coach.
I love working with clients who know exactly what they want, and with those who really don't know where to start.
I'm always happy to answer questions about the Web and websites!
